Class Description
The Young Illustrators program transforms stick figures into vibrant stories! Designed for young creators, students will learn to follow visual and written directions to draw engaging objects, enhancing their artistic skills while reinforcing reading abilities. To reinforce reading skills, we will display the written directions for drawing different shapes. Students will be instructed to combine two dimensional figures to create detailed & meaningful pictures. Their writing skills will be supported with the Columbia Teachers College Writer’s Workshop model of sketching before writing. Sketching first allows your child the time to think about their writing while adding details to their illustration. So often, children’s writing is impeded by their inability to illustrate their work & show details. This class offers your child the time to share their stories & be creative.
