Rowayton School has a full time nurse, Barbara Essig. She can be reached at email@example.com.
She determines the health needs of all students and provides emergency care for all injuries and illnesses. She administers first aid and medications ordered by your child’s health care provider. Barbara helps maintains the health of all students, including those with complicated health care needs. She is a part of the special education team and safety team and provides specialized care to those students who have special needs, and may require other services.
A student must have a doctor’s order to receive any medication during school hours. This includes Tylenol, Motrin or cough medication. A medication form must be on file signed by a doctor and parent. These are updated annually. Medication forms and physical forms are available below:
Students should never carry any medication to school. An adult must bring in all medication to the school nurse where is will remain in the health office throughout the year. Medication must be in its original container.
Please keep your child home if he/she is sick with fever >100 (without medicine), vomiting, diarrhea, frequent cough or undiagnosed rash of any kind. Student may return to school 24 hours after the fever subsides.
